RE TRATOS
Retrato é o substantivo que nomeia a exposição: o que pela história da arte configura uma manifestação com olhar eurocêntrico, aqui esperamos que se torne outra narrativa - um verbo que retrata, que bem-trata a diversidade artística e humana.
A Paralela convida as nove artistas: Arissana Pataxó, Camilla Monteiro, Gabriela Fero, Gabriella Marinho, Joana Uchôa, Kaya Agari, Lua Carvalho, Mitti Mendonça e Zabenzi, de diferentes regiões e contextos micropolíticos do Brasil, a criarem um autorretrato com suas linguagens plásticas e que expressassem sua visão epistêmica: por vezes cosmológicas, por outras marxistas e decoloniais.
A exposição conta também com obras já produzidas pelas artistas e que estão apresentadas nas outras três salas. De forma geral, o que vemos é um registro plural onde esculturas, pinturas e fotografias já conhecidas para falar de retrato de paisagem, retrato-histórico e autorretrato a ocuparem a galeria em harmônico diálogo com poemas-colagens, instalações em cerâmica, arame, carvão e bordado- faturas que valorizam o saber ancestral e originário.
Acreditamos num sistema dialógico para edificar a nova arte contemporânea e assim refazemos com as artistas um pacto, um novo trato. Um re trato.

Os Encontros Paralelos precedem nossas exposições, funcionando como uma residência virtual onde as artistas mantiveram o espaço de fala, trocaram sobre linguagens plásticas, processos criativos, problematizações e obras desenvolvidas para exibição. Para Retratos convidamos ainda para a troca com as artistas as doutorandas Isabel Teresa Cristina Taukane e Christiana Albuquerque.
Isabel é indígena da etnia Kurâ-Bakairi de Mato Grosso, doutoranda em Estudos de Cultura Contemporânea e professora. Christiana é roteirista do documentário Lobby do Batom, jornalista e pesquisadora em Literatura, Cultura e Contemporaneidade.
A dinâmica entre as partes envolvidas gera uma relação construtiva entre Paralela, artistas, convidadas e curadoria. Nosso desejo é seguir reunindo artistas a fim de manter viva a arte como pensamento contemporâneo para o desenvolvimento da cultura.
